On July 5, 1954, a 19-year-old Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studio in Memphis and recorded “That’s All Right” with guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black.

“That’s All Right”, penned by Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup in 1946 was Elvis' first recording. DJ Dewey Phillips played the song on July 8 on WHBQ radio and the switchboard lit up heralding the career of the man known as the King of Rock 'n' Roll. As a consequence, the music world changed forever.

The Legendary Sub Studios

Presley's rise to world-wide fame in 1956 transformed the field of popular music and had a massive influence on the broader scope of popular music.

In celebration of this great event, Midnight Rock will be playing a great selection of Elvis’ early recordings culminating in Rockin Dave’s Rock & Roll show this Thursday at 8pm (ish).

Welcome everyone.
