Midnight Rock Album
I remember the first time I met Dave Taylor… It was at an audition. The band I had at that time had booked the 'Adam and Eve' Pub in Hackney to try out Sax players. It came as some surprise when after several hours of listening to some really awful blowers that we actually ended up auditioning probably the best 'Rocking' piano man Britain has ever produced.
It seems that at the time, our agent (who should remain nameless) sent Dave along to the audition almost out of sheer desperation. He we had a tour of Scandinavia booked and not to wanting to lose the 2000 per cent of our meagre earnings thought that the more musicians that turned up, the better chance he had to continue living in the manner to which we never likely to become accustomed.
I worked with Dave for about 18 months and after several tours of Scandinavia it became obvious that he was destined to move onto much bigger and better things. He made his home in Finland, where he has enjoyed great success, as a fine musician and Rock 'n' Roll Artist, never out of the pop charts or the public eye.
On this album you will also hear what an accomplished songwriter he is, indeed, there are seven new songs as well as some amazing 'standards' in the great Louis Jordan style. From big band to ballads, this has them all. Maybe that's why they call him 'Mr. Rock'.
